Shana Tova

Miami is a cesspool of narcissism densely populated by douche bags. I've never been surrounded by so many self-involved bitches in my life. This place makes Los Angeles look good. I hold doors for people and they just walk through without saying thank you. I slow down for pedestrians in a crosswalk and the person behind me cuts out from behind me and almost kills the pedestrian. I have the audacity to go through a light WHILE it is turning yellow, and the person on the other side waiting to make a left decides that it would be a good idea to cut me off and make me swerve and almost slam into another car. At first I thought it was rudeness, but now I realize that it's just an unearned sense of entitlement and a complete disregard for human decency.
Happy New Year.

How do you say crazy fascist c*nt in Yiddish?

Lipstick fascist.

This is all a bad dream, right? One with a soundtrack where the lyric "we're on a road to nowhere" by the Talking Heads plays on a continuous loop.

It's not that Ms. Palin is ignorant. Ignorant implies a lack of knowledge. It's just that Ms. Palin doesn't believe in the existence of knowledge (or dinosaurs, or birth control, or the 6th amendment).

Oy vey

From the Corn Refiners Association.

This is so ridiculous and disturbing. It's like comparing crack to coke.

New shtele

At my new job:
I get to wear scrubs and sneakers!
I work full time.
I get benefits.
Everyone is so friggin' young.
There are hot doctors.
I get to eat for free.
I get paid time off for hurricanes.
Everyone speaks Spanish.
They expect me to speak Spanish.
Oops.

Yes shtele

Yay! I am employed, starting Monday, if hurricane Ike doesn't hit. Ike is usually an abusive name though.

No shtele

Sitting in the coffee shop, again. The one that plays the new Radiohead album all day long. I kind of love that.
Went on the 3rd job interview today, the one I really don't think I want, and it took 2 friggin hours, including the hour they had me wait, sitting in the waiting room next to a girl who's only response to my friendly question "are you hear to interview as well" was a curt and unsmiling, "yes". We then sat there in silence for another 30 minutes. Lovely personality, that one. It kind of made me feel guilty happy when I heard her say to the interviewer, during the portion of the interview where we had to sit in cubicles and answer case studies, that she didn't know what a SOAP note was. Ha! Amateur.
The job I really, really, really want is not calling. I don't think they want to give it to me. I say bah to them. Bah.
Tomorrow I'm going to the temp agency to whore myself out as an office worker. At least it'll keep me busy and out of trouble in the meantime. I hope the meantime doesn't take too long.
The temperature right now is a lovely 86, though according to weather.com and my sweat glands, it feels like a lovely 96. I'm in love with air conditioning, though I'm convinced that southern FL alone is responsible for all global warming.
Other than the unemployment, the heat, and the melting polar ice caps, life is good.
