If you need me, I'll be in the library until May '06. I'm stuck inside on a beautiful day, but I think I might go for a walk in a little while. This might be the last beautiful day of the year. I keep saying that every time it's over 50 degrees.
RIP Jeff.
Enlightening people with the wonders of the Yiddish language and the perils of my day to day existence. Totally.

L'Shana Tova
I spend a lot of time on this computer, a lot of time in my room. My keys hang from the doorknob like a leash from a dog's mouth. Someone, anyone, invite me out to play.
But I'm too busy to play. Sometimes I just want to walk around at midnight. You can't do that here like in NY. This is a fake city.

Super Goy
S said she missed my blog. Thank you for missing me S!
I've been busy.
School is hard.
Soda's fizzy.
Not hard like lard.
Wow, it's too bad I don't study creative writing any longer. Speaking of which, M is at UNH teaching the children how to write. M's boss said that he is not allowed to excuse absences of Jewish students for the high holy days (both of which fall on his class days). M said fuck that and is contacting human rights organizations and lawyer friends. He is a super goy.
Maybe I don't want to move to NH after all.
What do you think?

khazeray
Drunken bastards outside are shouting "Let's Go Red Sox", except it sounds more like "Lezzo Reah Souwks". Oh how I've missed the fans.
I'm on duty tonight and doomed to receive the dreaded 3am lock-out call. I just have that feeling.
It's the beginning of a new school year. I miss L and S, even though it's only been a week or so. I miss CA friends and sleeping peacefully outside, sans wicked loud bastards shouting through my window.
My whole family is in Europe right now. Doesn't that sound glamorous? The parents are in Prague and the brother is gallivanting around Italy with his lady friend. Me? I'm stuck here with the townies and daddy's girls.
Have you heard of facebook.com? Apparently there was a group of girls from my school who began a "I'm rich bitch, get used to it" group list. They talked about things like how they would never be caught dead in a Financial Aid Office, and the more obvious junk about clothes and jewelry. They should all take a trip to New Orleans and shut the fuck up.

You Had Me At Shalom
I stole that from somewhere.
Welcome back me! It's great to have me back. Everyone missed me so. So much that they were too depressed to write to me. All except J. She's the best. Oh, and A! sent a postcard, so I suppose that counts.
CA was grand, especially quarantine. Whoop, there it is. I watched "Good Will Hunting" on the plane ride back. It put me back into the Boston mood. That, and it helped me temporarily forget the smelly fella next to me who chugged Bud Light until the plane landed at 5am.
I've been in training for two weeks and Friday is the last day. The children move in on Sunday, so that day will be hell. Today was supposed to be a "Team building at the beach" day, but it rained so we rented out a roller rink, dressed in our best 80's gear, and skated to hip hop. I now know all the words to 50 Cent's "Candy Shop". Just what I've always wanted.
I'm sleepy now. It's good to be back. Thanks for reading.

Bobkes
I'm on a short break from mountain living and spending some time with M and his family in LA. While I'm not too fond of the city, I'm just happy to be clean and sleeping indoors for a stint. Oh, and there are three warm and fluffies here. Added bonus.
The mountain is treating me well. It's just as beautiful as I remember, though a whole lot hotter, which sucks, but at least I don't need to wear a hat to bed anymore. Chef J and I have started to train for our big climb in Yosemite at the end of August. Training includes after-dinner walks and night hikes that always seem like a good idea until I think I hear a bear and then want to jog the rest of the way home. I haven't seen any voracious beasts as of yet, but there is a ghost who locks and unlocks the gate to the road. It's pretty damn spooky up there.
I hope that my far-flung friends are all having lovely summers. I miss you. Write me a damn letter one of these days. I've received NO mail!
Besos,
Me

Au revoir
I promised J another update before my excursion to CA, so this one is especially for her:
I met J in 1984 on a Circleline cruise around NYC (right?). We were on a kindergarten trip, and our mums were there too. J was eating an ice cream cone and some of the vanilla was dripping through the hole in the bottom onto her shorts. It must have been warm outside. I liked ice cream, so therefore I liked J immediately. This is how it was when you were 4.
I was a shy little girl, but J was even shyer. When introduced, she hid behind her mum, clutching her leg with sticky fingers.
Pretty soon I was spending most of my waking hours with J. This continued for 14 years or so. Chicken pox, bad hair, French braids, braces, crayfish, camps, Florida, hiking, green wrist fanny-packs, our insatiable cynicism, cars, college, etc. I’m sure I’m missing a few key moments here, and really, all of the memories blend unless I’m looking at a photo album.
J is now a successful businesswoman (tee hee) who would like to travel the world and raise puppies. She is a city girl who likes tasty food and walking through parks. She hates being a bridesmaid and her middle name. And nobody puts J in a corner.
I'm off to CA on Friday and will be in the middle of the woods with no phones or computers or roof over my head until late August. I will miss J and all of my other friends and family members, but I trust that we will learn to once again correspond the old fashioned way.
Goodbye lovelies.
